Outlook 02/11: U.S. stock futures ticked sideways after jobless claims became worse than expected as pandemic-related filings surge. Jobless claims totaled 793,000 last week, higher than 760,000 estimated. Total filings jumped to 20.4 million amid a surge in applications for benefits under pandemic-related programs. Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell said Wednesday the jobs picture remains “a long way” from where it needs to be and said the central bank is committed to keeping interest rates low until substantially more progress happens.
