Retail Sales

Outlook 02/15: U.S. stock futures rise slightly as market rally seeks to regain momentum. Investors received another update about the state of the U.S. economy on Thursday, with January retail sales plunging 0.8%, much more than the 0.3% expected. This raised some concern about the strength of the U.S. consumer under the weight of sticky inflation and high interest rates, and sent Treasury yields down. Stocks rallied on Wednesday but did not erase all of the losses from Tuesday’s sell-off. The SP500 recaptured the 5,000 level, closing slightly above it. Investors are weighing whether the Federal Reserve can bring down inflation without derailing an economy that keeps surprising to the upside.

/ES Plan: Yesterday market closed bullish, but overnight looks more balanced, still moving above value, so these're the opening and initial balance options for today:

A) If market moves above YHOD 5022 with bullish internals, buy towards GAP 5034 HVE 5049 and ATH 5066.

B) If market moves below YHOD 5022 with bearish internals, sell towards ONL 5011 YVAH 5001 and YVAL 4980.

Note: Market opens above value and if it begins to trade within value, VAR comes into play.
