Holiday weeks

Outlook 12/23: Stock futures tick lower as the market begins holiday-shortened weeks. Trading is expected to be relatively muted during these weeks. The New York Stock Exchange closes early Tuesday for Christmas Eve at 1 p.m. ET, and the market is shut on Christmas Day. Investors are hopeful that a so-called Santa Claus rally may help the market end 2024 on a high note, especially following a tumultuous week. Dating back to 1969, the SP500, on average, added 1.3% in the last five trading days of the year and the first two in January. The second half of December is also typically the second-strongest period of the year for U.S. equities, and the SP500 has been up 83% of the time in December of presidential election years.

ESH25 (MAR2025): YVAH 6051 YPOC 6014 YVAL 5929 GAP 6000.50

/ES Plan: Last session market closed bullish, but reopening looks slight bearish, moving within previous value, so these're the opening and initial balance options for current session:

A) If market moves above HVE 5974 with bullish internals, buy towards GAP 6000 YVAH-YHOD 6051 HVE 6108 and FOMC SoC 6136.

B) If market moves below HVE 5974 with bearish internals, sell towards YVAL 5929 YLOD 5866 HVE 5850 and PBT-GAP 5820 magnet.

Note: Market opens inside value. It's Monday of a holiday week. Many traders want to take their time with family. Trading is expected to be relatively muted during these holidays weeks. Volume will be lower than usual. Bad trades occur when you try to force things to happen.
