FOMC Day

Outlook 03/20: U.S. stock futures are flat on Wednesday following a winning day for the major averages, as investors awaited the latest Federal Reserve policy decision. The Federal Open Market Committee is meeting, which means investors will be watching for any clues about the direction the Federal Reserve plans to take on interest rates. The general feeling is that policymakers will stick to the recent messaging that’s been coming out of the central bank. That means most watchers aren’t expecting the Fed to announce a rate cut Wednesday. But they might get some hints about what the future holds in the “dot plot,” or the chart that indicates what the 19 FOMC voting and nonvoting members are expecting to see for rates through the end of the year and out to 2026 and beyond. Officials also will release their quarterly update on the economy, specifically for gross domestic product, inflation and the unemployment rate.

/ESM24 (JUN 2024): YVAH 5245 YPOC 5234 YVAL 5206 GAP 5240.75

/ES Plan: Yesterday market closed bullish, but overnight looks balanced, moving within value, so these're the opening and initial balance options for today:

A) If market moves above HVE 5245 with bullish internals, buy towards ON-ATH 5253 and PBT 5280.

B) If market remains below HVE 5245 with bearish internals, sell towards YVAL 5206 and YLOD 5186.

NoteFOMC days are two separate sessions. The AM session tends to involve a tightening price range and lower activity. Trade setups that work well in the AM, may fail completely in the afternoon, resulting in significant losses. Today is NOT the day to trade aggressively. On these high volatility days, your first trading rule is 'manage your risk'.
